It is a shame this series ended after only three volumes, it was just starting to warm up. I understand it has continued in a series called "Drug and Drop" but that is all I know about it. CLAMP is famous for hinting at shonen ai and this story is no different. Even if they ever cross the line into yaoi land it would probably be very soft yaoi. That said, this story does frustrate in that it introduces characters and situations that are never resolved. Everyone is mysterious, has mysterious pasts, and mystical powers, the exploration of these things would take dozens of volumes. Therefore, the frustration.
So why the five stars? The dark haired and stoic Rikuo is absolutely gorgeous and the blond Kazahaya is at times quite pretty. He also has a temper, especially when it comes to Rikuo. The typical seme/uke behaviors are in full force and enjoyable to watch. The set up to an eventual relationship is obvious. The situations they get into are not. What happens to the young men is always mystical, and other worldly. Their boss and his, um companion laugh together as they send the boys off on these side jobs for clients we never see. Are the boys training for something? Is there bigger and more dangerous jobs to come? Who are these clients? How does the boss know when they are in trouble? How does he know what is needed and where? What is the reason Kazahaya can't go home again? Who is the girl Rikuo is looking for and why does he have a tattoo? These and other questions are never answered in the first three volumes, I can only hope they will be answered in the next series.
That said the books have beautiful characters, lovely backgrounds and intriguing stories. It just sets you up to crave more. It is up to you if it is worth it.
Since originally writing the above I started reading Drug and Drop online and been disappointed. I think the reader would be alright if they had already read "Wish" (also by Clamp). It would best to start with Wish, then read Legal Drug and finish up with Drug and Drop.

Legal Drug Vol 1 Clamp 9781591824855 Books Reviews
Legal Drug is excellent. I read a bit of ch. 1 via scanlations, but it gets SO good. The mysteries build in a way that keeps my interest piqued and keeps me turning pages to satisfy my need to know more... more about the characters, their powers, their situations, etc.
The story and characters have absolutely nothing to do with drugs... unless you count the fact that the two main characters work at a drugstore-- as in a Rite Aid/Revco/CVS type of convenience store/pharmacy.
The main characters have all been drawn together because they have psychic abilities. The psychic pharmacist employs his two stock boys to use their talents to find obscure stuff as side-jobs for bonus pay. These jobs are strange and surreal, but oddly compelling.
As far as shonen-ai or yaoi goes-- absolutely Nothing happens between the two main characters in vol. 1 but... let's just say the situation is ripe for it. ;] I'll definately be buying the rest of the series.
Yes!!! This book was in great shape when i got it and it got here pretty fast to. Very nice!! Would buy from this person again!!
The book came in better condition than I expected as I had ordered others described in similar conditions but were not at all in good condition. Very interesting plot and was a pleasure to read.
It arrived on time and without a scratch.
I don't like the type of paper (that brownish, coarse one), but that's Tokyopop type.
About the story... it's CLAMP. You either love them or hate them
Cute and fun read
Great book
The supernatural, pretty boys, and angst... yeah, this is a CLAMP work all right. If you're already a CLAMP fan, you will most likely enjoy this series, so what are you waiting for? A note for you CLAMPers the idea behind Legal Drug is similar to xxxHolic and Tokyo Babylon, (boys performing supernatural duties around town), and even seems to be set in the xxxHolic universe. (In vol. 1 of xxxHolic, Watanuki goes to the Green Drugstore.) So, if you really love either xxxHolic or TB, I'd doubly recommend this series.
For you people who have never read a CLAMP work, be warned! Many of their works have implied shounen-ai, (boy love, as in boy-loves-boy love), and this one of the most heavily dosed in it. If shounen-ai is not your cup of tea, then this is not the book for you. If you ARE a shounen-ai fan, then I must also disappoint you thus far into the series there has been absolutely no kissing, (despite two of the characters already having been in a confirmed relationship).
Anyway, this series is rather episodic, so if you don't like that plotline technique, then this isn't for you. Also, be warning that this manga loves to make use of empty space on the page to create effect, so if you are used to the fullness of shojo manga, it might be a little strange when you see how much white is left on some panels.
However, if you love bishies, the paranormal, and random bursts of cross-dressing, this is the series for you!
